The Opportunity
CliniKids is a new integrated clinical/research service providing intervention and diagnostic services for young children with developmental delays and/or autism spectrum disorder, and their families. This unique collaboration creates an exciting opportunity to blend clinical practice and research in a clinical setting, aiming to provide children and their families with more timely access to evidence-based interventions.
We now have an exciting opening available to join the CliniKids team and support with the delivery of culturally appropriate clinical services and projects.

The Role
As the Community Connect Coordinator, you will support the development and delivery of initiatives which will facilitate awareness, understanding and positive relationships with internal and external staff, stakeholders and community members.
This role has been newly developed with the support of the Kulunga Aboriginal Unit at the Telethon Kids Institute, to increase the acceptability and suitability of CliniKids services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and has a focus on community engagement and capacity building. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the delivery of cultural awareness training for CliniKids staff.
  • Work with Aboriginal communities and organisations to promote the understanding of CliniKids service and research projects.
  • Support the development of clinical programs and services that are acceptable to the Aboriginal community.

This is a full-time position offered on a 12-months contract initially, with the possibility of further extension. Part-time will be considered for the right candidate (0.8FTE).

About You

This position will see you use your strong people skills to bring together and build meaningful connections between the CliniKids team and Aboriginal Communities. Your positive and collaborative approach will help you navigate our complex and changing environment. Additionally, your key to success will be your demonstrated experience/ skills in:

  • Relevant experience in Aboriginal Health, Community engagement or similar roles.
  • Passion for Aboriginal Health and Child Health Research.
  • Strong interest in building Aboriginal cultural capacity in organisations.
  • Good written and verbal communication,
  • Excellent organisational skills, flexibility and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Previous relevant experience in an administrative, project management, business capacity and/or clinical role is not essential but would be an advantage.
